Hike Greyton • Wild Paths, Local Knowledge
Terms & Conditions
Please read these terms carefully before booking a guided hike with Hike Greyton. By making an enquiry or confirming a booking, you agree to the terms below.
1. Bookings & payment
Bookings are confirmed once we’ve agreed the hike details (date, route, group size, inclusions) and you’ve received written confirmation from us. Payment terms (deposit and/or balance due date) will be communicated at the time of booking. Prices are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR) unless stated otherwise.
2. Cancellations & rescheduling
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify us as soon as possible. Where feasible, we’ll try to move your booking to a new date. Refunds (if applicable) depend on notice given and any non-refundable third-party costs already incurred (for example accommodation or transport arranged on your behalf).
3. Weather, safety & guide discretion
Hiking is weather-dependent. For safety, Hike Greyton may adjust the route, start time, or cancel a hike due to weather, fire risk, trail conditions, or other factors beyond our control. If we cancel for safety reasons, we’ll offer a suitable alternative date or route where possible.
4. Fitness, health & participant responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring you are medically and physically fit for the hike you book. Please disclose any relevant medical conditions, allergies, injuries, or medications that may affect your participation. You agree to follow the guide’s instructions, stay with the group, and behave respectfully toward others and the environment.
5. Gear & what to bring
We’ll advise what to bring for your specific hike. As a minimum, participants should arrive with suitable hiking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, sun protection, and a refillable water bottle. If you do not have appropriate gear, the guide may refuse participation for safety reasons.
6. Inclusions, exclusions & third-party services
Inclusions (such as guiding, snacks/meals, and accommodation arrangements for multi-day hikes) vary by package and will be confirmed in writing. Any third-party services (accommodation providers, transport operators, permits) may have their own terms and cancellation policies. You are responsible for any additional costs not explicitly included.
7. Liability & assumption of risk
Outdoor activities involve inherent risks, including slips, falls, exposure to weather, wildlife encounters, and remote terrain. You participate at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Hike Greyton is not liable for loss, injury, illness, or damage arising from participation, except where caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
8. Personal property
You are responsible for your personal belongings. We are not liable for loss, theft, or damage to personal property during a hike, including items left in vehicles or accommodation.
9. Photography & marketing
We may take photos or short videos during hikes for trip memories and marketing. If you prefer not to be photographed, please let your guide know at the start of the hike and we will respect your request.
10. Privacy
We only collect personal information needed to respond to enquiries, manage bookings, and deliver the service. We do not sell your information. If you contact us via email or WhatsApp, those platforms’ privacy policies also apply.
